CFCAA was developed as a pilot model with an initial funding allocation which has since been exhausted. It was however considered to be a successful model which is now being implemented in modified form by Native Child and Family Services Toronto, and is being considered for inclusion in Ontario Community Health Clinics / Family Health Teams. Key members of the original pilot implementation group including Dr. Salmon and Robert Fulton, MSW, continue to be available for consultation, training, implementation support, ongoing clinical supervision/support and outcome measurement for any parties wishing to implement the model. CFCAA continues to seek community partners for model implementation and interested parties should Contact Dr. Salmon through email: dr.salmon@rrees.com.
The theoretical support for the model was based upon an initial literature review commissioned by CFCAA, and conducted by Dr. Salmon and Professor Dr. Brian Bigalow of Laurentian University, entitled Recent Developments in the Effects of Early Parental Intervention and Subsequent Adaptation of Children, Adolescents and Adults with Commonly Diagnosed Mental Health and Cognitive Disorders: An Indictment of Poverty and Dysfunctional Parenting. A second commissioned paper supporting much of the underpinnings of the practical clinical applications are documented in Supporting Parents in Early Child Development: Research and Resources.
The following document is a summary of the results of the CFCAA pilot project: CFCAA Program Overview, Summary and Outcomes.
